The Sharon Hotel in Herzlia also uses a similar recipe for baking a whole luna fish, a fish too large for the domestic oven but which can be baked whole in the Sharon's catering ovens and served on Saturday evening as part of a buffet.

  • 4 small trout or fresh whitefish cleaned and dressed
  • salt and black pepper
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 2 onions sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream


  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Place the fish in a greased baking dish and sprinkle with the salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
  • Top with the onion slices, then pour the sour cream over the fish.
  • Bake fish for about 30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes with the pan juices until the fish is golden brown.
  • Serve with salad and baked potatoes.
