Ingredients
 

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp grated root ginger
  • 2.2 lb thickly sliced onion
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • salt

Instructions

  • Lightly fry 1 tsp cumin seeds in 4 tbsp oil or ghee and add 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp grated root ginger and 2.2 lb thickly sliced onion.
  • Fry for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with 1 tsp garam masala, season with salt, cover with a lid and cook for a further 10 minutes;
  • serve in a vegetable dish.
