
Spiced Biscuits
Ingredients
- 4 oz wholewheat flour
- 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground mixed spice
- 2 oz rolled oats
- 5 oz soft brown sugar
- 3 oz butter
- 1 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 tbsp mil
Instructions
- Put the flour, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon, mixed spice, oats and sugar into a bowl and stir well to blend thoroughly Make a well in the middle.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter with the syrup and milk over a gentle heat.
- Pour the melted mixture into the dry ingredients and beat well, until the mixture forms a smooth, pliable dough.
- Divide the mixture into about 15 small balls. Place these onto lightly greased baking sheets, keeping them well spaced, to allow the mixture to spread.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a wetted spoon, and bake in a preheated oven, 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4, for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow the biscuits to cool on the baking sheet before removing them.
