Ingredients
 

  • 3 1/3 lb spinach
  • 8 oz diced turnip
  • 3 1/2 oz chopped onion
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 4 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/4 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt

Instructions

  • Place the spinach in a deep pan, add a little water, season with salt, cover with a lid and boil for 5 minutes until tender. Drain well, coarsely chop and retain.
  • Boil the diced turnips in salted water until cooked.
  • Lightly fry the mustard seeds in ghee, then add the chopped onion, grated ginger, chilli powder and turmeric.
  • Add the chopped spinach and drained turnips and cook for a further 3 - 4 minutes.
  • Serve sprinkled with garam masala and the lemon juice.
