Meethe Pille Chawal (Indian Sweetened saffron rice)
Ingredients
- 14 oz Rice washed
- 2 tsp Ghee
- 4 Cloves laung
- 1 Black cardamom badi elaichi
- 32 floz Water
- a pinch Saffron kesar or yellow colour
- 5 oz Sugar
Instructions
- Heat the ghee in a wok (kadhai); add cloves and black cardamom. Fry for 1 - 2 minutes.
- Add the rice and mix. Pour in the water and edible colour or saffron. Cook until the rice is half done.
- Mix in the sugar and cook on low heat until all the water evaporates and the rice is tender. Serve hot.
