Lapsi (Indian Sweet porridge with broken wheat)
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 oz Broken wheat dalia
- 3 1/2 oz Ghee
- 1 tsp Aniseed saunf
- 10 Almonds badaam, blanched, halved
- 1 tbsp Dry coconut copra, slivers
- 16 floz Water
- 2 1/2 oz Sugar
- 4 Green cardamom choti elaichi, crushed
Instructions
- Heat the ghee in a wok (kadhai); add aniseed and let them crackle.
- Add broken wheat and stir-fry till it is well browned.
- Add almonds, coconut, and water; bring to the boil. Lower heat and cook till the broken wheat becomes tender.
- Add sugar and stir till it dissolves completely.
- Remove from heat and garnish with slivers of almonds and cardamom.
