Ingredients
 

  • 7 oz Split green gram dhuli moong daf, washed, soaked for 15 minutes
  • 3/4 cup Broken wheat dalia, washed, soaked for 15 minutes

for the tempering:

  • 3 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 Cinnamon dalchini, 1 inch stick
  • 3 Cloves laung
  • 1 tsp Cumin jeera seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida hing
  • 1 cup Green peas hara matar
  • 1 cup Potatoes diced
  • 1 cup Cauliflower phool gobhi, florets
  • 1 cup Onions diced
  • 1 tbsp Green chilli-ginger adrak paste
  • 1/2 tsp Black peppercorns sabut kali mirch
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric haldi powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 16 floz Water hot

Instructions

  • For the tempering, heat the ghee in a pressure cooker; add cinnamon stick, cloves, cumin seeds, and asafoetida. Saute for 30 seconds.
  • Add green peas, potatoes, cauliflower, onions, and green chilli-ginger paste. Saute for a few minutes, or till the vegetables are a little tender.
  • Add the drained split green gram and broken wheat, black peppercorns, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir-fry for 4 - 5 minutes.
  • Add hot water and pressure cook for 3 - 4 whistles.
  • Allow the steam to escape, then open the pressure cooker carefully.
  • Stir vigorously, adding a little more hot water, if required, so that the split green gram and the broken wheat mix well. Adjust seasoning, if required.
  • Serve hot.
