This easy, healthy recipe is a great way to add a little more flavor to your holiday meals.

  • 9 oz white cabbage finely shredded
  • 1 celery stick chopped
  • 2 carrots grated
  • 1 oz raisins
  • 1 dessert apple
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 6 oz Gouda cheese coarsely grated
  • 1/4 pint natural low-fat yogurt
  • salt and pepper
  • chopped parsley to garnish


  • Place the cabbage, celery, carrot and raisins in a large bowl. Grate the apple and toss in the lemon juice. Add to the bowl with the cheese and mix well.
  • Season the yogurt with salt and pepper to taste, then stir into the salad. Pile on to a serving dish and garnish with chopped parsley.
  • The easiest way to prepare the white cabbage is to cut it into thin slices with a serrated bread knife, then chop the shreds to a suitable size.
