Homemade sweets seem to taste so much better than shop-bought ones.

  • 3 oz butter
  • 5 oz sugar
  • 14 oz can Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
  • 2 oz crisp puffed rice


  • Lightly grease an 18cm (7 inch) square tin.
  • Melt the butter and sugar together in a large saucepan. Add the Milk and golden syrup. Heat gently stirring continuously and bring to the boil. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the puffed rice and pour into the prepared tin. Leave to set in a cool place.
  • When cool cut the toffee crispies into squares. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
