Soft White Bread recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb strong flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp milk powder
- 1 tsp lard
- 1 oz yeast
- 1 pint water at 40C
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Sift the flour, salt and milk powder into a warmed bowl and rub in the fat.
- Dissolve the yeast and sugar in the water and mix into the flour to form a medium-soft dough.
- Knead thoroughly, replace in the bowl, cover with a cloth and allow to prove in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Knead the dough and divide into two equal pieces; mould and place into greased bread tins.
- Allow to prove until double in size.
- Bake at 200°C for 35 minutes.
