  • 4 spare rib chops
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 tablespoon virgin olive oil
  • 3 teaspoons horseradish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 14 oz can chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon malt vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Chopped parsley for garnish


  • Chop the onion roughly. Heat the oil in a saucepan and saute the onion over a medium heat for 8 minutes until transparent.
  • Add all the other sauce ingredients. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, trim any rind and fat from the spare rib chops and place them in an ovenproof dish large enough to hold them in a single layer.
  • When ready, spoon the barbecue sauce over the chops, cover and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes until thoroughly cooked and tender. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.
