Stir-Fried Beef, or Beef Bowl (Gyudon)
Gyudon is a popular dish where rice is topped with beef and onion simmered in a sweet sauce. This recipe is easy to make with ingredients that most people have on hand.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp oil
- 3 1/2 oz sliced onion
- 3 1/2 lb thin strips of beef
- 10 floz water
- 4 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 2 tbsp ginger juice
- boiled rice
Instructions
- Heat 50 ml oil in a wok and stir-fry 100 g sliced onion and 1.5 kg thin strips of beef.
- Moisten with 300 ml water, 50 ml dark soy sauce, 25 ml mirin and 25 ml ginger juice and cook for 2 minutes.
- Serve in donburi bowls on a bed of boiled rice.
