Brussels Sprouts With Water Chestnuts
A classic combination of sprouts and chestnuts with a truly Chinese feel. As is the intention with all stir fried vegetables, the sprouts should stay crunchy. Serve with pork, gammon or turkey.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Brussels sprouts trimmed
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 2 tbsps sherry
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 10 oz canned water chestnuts drained and sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Thinly slice the sprouts lengthways.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan, add the onion and fry gently until softened.
- Add the sprouts, sherry and soy sauce and stir fry for 1 - 2 minutes.
- Add the chestnuts and toss until heated through.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve immediately.
