Baked Herring in Cream (Forshmak)
For those who want to try something really new, unusual and tasty.
- chopped onion
- breadcrumbs soaked in milk
- grated apple
- grated nutmeg
- zest of lemon
- Combine finely minced, raw fillets of herring with lightly sauteed chopped onion, breadcrumbs soaked in milk and squeezed out, grated apple, cream and seasoning.
- Place into a shallow dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs, grated nutmeg, zest of lemon and butter and bake for 30 minutes.
