  • herring
  • chopped onion
  • breadcrumbs soaked in milk
  • grated apple
  • cream
  • seasoning.
  • grated nutmeg
  • zest of lemon
  • butter


  • Combine finely minced, raw fillets of herring with lightly sauteed chopped onion, breadcrumbs soaked in milk and squeezed out, grated apple, cream and seasoning.
  • Place into a shallow dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs, grated nutmeg, zest of lemon and butter and bake for 30 minutes.
