
Hot Fruit Salad
Ingredients
- 2 bananas
- 2 dessert apples
- 2 oranges
- 8 oz black grapes
- 4 oz seedless grapes
- 1/4 pint apple juice
- 1 oz butter
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamc
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 lemon guartered
Instructions
- Peel and slice the bananas. Core and slice the apples. Peel the oranges, remove the pith and cut oranges into segments. Halve the black grapes and remove the pips.
- Put all the fruit in a bowl with the apple juice.
- Melt the butter in a large saucepan over a gentle heat. Add the spices and honey and mix thoroughly, warming through. Add the fruit salad mixture and the lemon and cook for 8 - 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the lemon and serve the fruit salad immediately with clotted or double cream.
- Trim the ends off the orange, stand the fruit on a board, then cut downwards to remove strips of peel and pith all at once.
