  • 2 bananas
  • 2 dessert apples
  • 2 oranges
  • 8 oz black grapes
  • 4 oz seedless grapes
  • 1/4 pint apple juice
  • 1 oz butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamc
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 lemon guartered


  • Peel and slice the bananas. Core and slice the apples. Peel the oranges, remove the pith and cut oranges into segments. Halve the black grapes and remove the pips.
  • Put all the fruit in a bowl with the apple juice.
  • Melt the butter in a large saucepan over a gentle heat. Add the spices and honey and mix thoroughly, warming through. Add the fruit salad mixture and the lemon and cook for 8 - 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove the lemon and serve the fruit salad immediately with clotted or double cream.
  • Trim the ends off the orange, stand the fruit on a board, then cut downwards to remove strips of peel and pith all at once.
