  • 2 oz butter or margarine
  • 2 oz plain flour
  • 1 pint milk
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dill weed
  • 7 oz can tuna drained and flaked
  • 4 oz peeled cooked prawns
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

for the topping

  • 6 oz wholemeal flour
  • 2 oz oatmeal
  • 4 oz butter
  • salt and pepper


  • 2 whole cooked prawns
  • parsley sprigs


  • Melt the butter or margarine over a low heat, stir in the flour, cook for 2 minutes, then gradually add the milk, stirring all the time. Bring the sauce to the boil, simmer gently for a few minutes. Add the seasoning, dill weed, tuna, prawns and lemon juice. Pour into an ovenproof dish.
  • Place the flour, oatmeal, butter and seasoning in a bowl. Using your fingertips, rub the fat into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  • Spoon over the fish mixture and bake in a moderately hot oven for 30 - 40 minutes. Serve hot, garnished with whole prawns and parsley.
