
Red Cabbage with Pears and Cloves
A classic recipe for red cabbage with pears and cloves, perfect to go with roasted duck.
Ingredients
- 1 medium red cabbage
- 2 British pears
- 6 whole cloves
- 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
- salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1 oz butter
- 1 tsp clear honey
Instructions
- Cut the cabbage in half and remove the centre core carefully with a sharp knife, then thinly shred the cabbage and place into a pan.
- Peel the pears and grate coarsely, add to the cabbage with the cloves, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper, butter and hone)
- Cover with a tight-fitting lid and cook over a low heat for 30 minutes, stirring from time to time.
