
Pasta Bolognese
Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 3 rashers streaky bacon
- 4 oz celeriac
- 1 carrot
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 cloves garlic crushed
- 1 lb lean minced beef
- 3 tbsp tomato puree
- 14 oz can tomatoes
- salt and pepper
- 1/4 pt beef stock
- 12 oz pasta
Instructions
- Chop onion and bacon. Dice celeriac and carrot.
- Heat oil in a large frying pan or saucepan. Ada onion and garlic and fry for 3 mins.
- Add bacon, fry for 3 mins. Add celeriac and carrot and cook for 2 mins.
- Add mince and cook for 3 - 4 mins, until brown.
- Add tomato puree, tomatoes, seasoning and stock and stir well Bring to boil, cover and simmer for 30 mins.
- Cook pasta in lightly salted boiling water for 10 - 12 mins or until just tender. Drain, top with sauce and serve.
- Celeriac is the root of a type of celery. Replace with 2 sticks of celery if preferred.
