Apple And Raisin Chutney #2
Ingredients
- 4 lb sweet apples
- 1 lb seedless raisins or sultanas
- 1/2 lb chopped nuts
- Pinch of ground cloves
- 1/2 pint brown rice or apple cider vinegar
- 1 lb soft brown sugar optional
- 2 oranges
Instructions
- Peel, core and chop the apples.
- Place the apples, raisins, nuts, spice and vinegar in a covered pot and simmer until soft and thoroughly cooked.
- Add the sugar, and the juice and rind of the oranges, and cook, uncovered, until thick, stirring at least until the sugar is dissolved.
- Store in jars as described above. This chutney will keep well in a cool, dark cupboard for several months if sugar is used.
