Tasty Hamburgers
Grated mature Cheddar cheese or finely shredded Mozzarella may be substituted for the Danish Blue.
Add a few drops of Tabasco to the minced beef mixture, for a more piquant taste.
Serve in the traditional sesame bun with lettuce, sliced tomato and various relishes or mustard. Alternatively, serve with French fried potatoes, without the bun.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb lean minced beef
- 1 small onion finely grated
- 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
- salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 3 oz Danish Blue cheese mashed
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the minced beef, onion and tomato ketchup and season well with salt and pepper. Cover the mixture and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Divide the mashed cheese into 4 portions. Shape each portion into a ball and flatten slightly. Divide the chilled beef mixture into 4 portions and mould 1 portion around each ball of cheese. Shape into a fairly thick hamburger, making sure that
- the cheese is completely enclosed by the meat mixture.
- Heat the oil in a large frying-pan, add the hamburgers and fry for about 5-8 minutes on each side,
- until they are done to your liking. 4 Remove the hamburgers from the pan with a fish slice, drain quickly on absorbent paper and serve at once.
