This sambal is usually served with fish or vegetable curries.

  • 6 oz Peeled cooked shrimps chopped
  • 2 Hard-boiled eggs sliced
  • 1 Medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 Green chilli finely chopped
  • piece Fresh root ginger peeled 2 1/2 cm (1 in) and finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Hot chilli powder
  • 2 Tbs Thick coconut milk
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds coarsely crushed


  • Combine all the ingredients, except the cumin seeds, in a shallow serving dish and mix well.
  • Sprinkle the crushed cumin seeds over the top. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
