  • 1/2 small white cabbage
  • 1 onion
  • 4 carrots
  • 2 tart dessert apples
  • 2 oz salted peanuts
  • 1/4 pint mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • salt and pepper


  • Core and finely shred the cabbage. Halve and thinly slice the onion. Peel and coarsely grate the carrots.
  • Peel, core and coarsely grate the apples. Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and toss well.
  • Turn the coleslaw into a serving dish and serve to accompany cold meats and flans.

  • Make a delicious supper with coleslaw and grilled bacon rolls in buttered French bread.
