Ingredients
 

  • 10 1/2 oz haricot beans
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 5 1/3 oz Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp meat or vegetable stock or water
  • 1 egg
  • 4 oz soft white breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper
  • fat for greasing

Instructions

  • Prepare and cook the beans. Drain and mash them finely.
  • Skin and chop the onion.
  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onion until golden brown.
  • Grate the cheese.
  • Put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf, place in a greased baking tin, and cover with buttered greaseproof paper.
  • Bake in a moderate oven at 180°C gas mark 4 for 45 minutes.
  • Serve with gravy and vegetables.
