This is a favorite dish in the Hungarian cuisine. This is a delicious and tender dish with a rich flavor. The recipe is easy to make and it takes only 30 minutes to cook the veal paprika.

  • 4 veal fillets about 6 oz each
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 4 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 3 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 pint natural low-fat yogurt
  • salt and pepper


  • Put the veal fillets on the rack of a grill pan. Cook under a fairly hot grill for about 5 minutes on each side (depending on the thickness of the fillets), spooning over some of the lemon juice to prevent the meat burning.
  • Mix together the tomato puree, paprika and remaining lemon juice and heat gently. Remove from the heat and stir in the yogurt and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Put the veal fillets on a warmed serving plate and pour the sauce over.
  • This sauce has a rather sharp taste. If you prefer a slightly sweeter sauce, use fresh orange juice instead of the lemon juice. Alternatively, you could add a few drops of artifical liquid sweetener just before serving.
