Transylvanian Goulash
This is a traditional Romanian dish, typically made with pork, and seasoned with paprika or hot pepper.
Ingredients
- 2 - tbsp oil
- 1 large onion finely chopped
- 2 tbsp paprika
- 1 1/2 lb pork cubed
- salt
- 1 large clove garlic crushed
- 2 tsp dried dill
- 2 tsp caraway seeds
- 1/2 pint water
- 1 1/2 lb sauerkraut
- 1/4 pint sour cream
Instructions
- Heat the oil, add the onion and cook until it has just softened but not browned.
- Add the paprika and stir well. Add the pork, garlic, dill and caraway seeds.
- Stir well. Add the water and sauerkraut.
- Cook on a low heat for 1 1/4 hours.
- Stir in the sour cream and warm through gently.
