Transylvanian Goulash

This is a traditional Romanian dish, typically made with pork, and seasoned with paprika or hot pepper.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 - tbsp oil
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 1/2 lb pork cubed
  • salt
  • 1 large clove garlic crushed
  • 2 tsp dried dill
  • 2 tsp caraway seeds
  • 1/2 pint water
  • 1 1/2 lb sauerkraut
  • 1/4 pint sour cream

Instructions

  • Heat the oil, add the onion and cook until it has just softened but not browned.
  • Add the paprika and stir well. Add the pork, garlic, dill and caraway seeds.
  • Stir well. Add the water and sauerkraut.
  • Cook on a low heat for 1 1/4 hours.
  • Stir in the sour cream and warm through gently.
