
Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2 lb potatoes peeled
- 1 medium onion peeled and quartered
- 4 oz Cheddar cheese
- 1 oz butter
- salt and pepper
- 1 size 3 egg
- 1/2 pint milk
Instructions
- Slice the potatoes.
- Grate the onion and cheese.
- Arrange the potato slices in a well buttered, shallow ovenproof dish and sprinkle each layer with onion, cheese and salt and pepper. Finish with a thick layer of cheese and dot with butter.
- Beat the egg and milk together and pour carefully over the potatoes.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake at 180°C, 350°F, Gas No. 4 for 1 1/2 hours or until the potatoes are cooked and the topping is golden.
