1 1/4 cup (300 ml) 1/2 pint cider
2 tbsp (25 g) 1 oz brown sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
4 large bananas, halved lengthways
double cream (heavy cream) and chopped nuts to decorate
method
1. Put the cider, sugar and lemon juice in a wide pan and bring to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
2. Boil for 5 minutes. Add the bananas, cover and simmer gently for 5 minutes, turning once.
3. Turn the bananas and cider syrup into a serving dish. Cool, then chill.
