Sunflower Seeds Roasted with Tamari (Shoyu) sauce

Nuts or seeds combined with another protein food make an excellent substitute for meat or dairy products. This is one of the simplest combinations and also a very delicious one. These sunflower seeds with a dark coating of tamari (Shoyu) sauce are excellent in salads and mixed into bread and scone (biscuit) dough. They are also good as a before-dinner snack.

ingredients

125 g (1/4 lb) sunflower seeds
45 ml (3 tbls) tamari sauce

method

1. Heat the oven to gas mark 4 (180°C) 350°F.

2. Put the sunflower seeds into a bowl and mix in the tamari (Shoyu) sauce.

3. Spread the seeds onto a baking sheet and put them into the oven for 20 minutes.

4. Let the seeds cool on the baking sheet, then store them in an airtight container.
