method
1. Mix together the pork or beef, bacon, breadcrumbs, onion, mixed herbs or mint, salt and pepper and bind with the egg and cider.
2. Press into a greased 1 kg (2 lb) loaf tin and smooth the top.
3. Cover with greased greaseproof paper or foil.
4. Bake in a preheated moderate oven 180°C (350°F) Gas Mark 4 for about 1 1/2 hours.
5. Turn out and serve hot with a parsley or onion sauce, or cold with salads
