Grease a 1 litre (1 3/4 pint) pie dish.

1. Set the oven at 180°c (350°f) gas 4.
2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter or margarine with the sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Gradually beat in the eggs. Sift the flour and baking powder together into a bowl, then fold them into the creamed mixture.
4. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pie dish and bake for 30 - 35 minutes until well risen and golden brown.
5. Serve from the dish with Vanilla Custard or any sweet sauce.
