This is perhaps one of the most popular of all the great American sandwiches, and it comes in a multitude of forms: there are some who make it a 'three-decker', ie with two lots of fillings, there are others who substitute chicken for the turkey, or even
8 slices White bread, toasted and kept hot
275 g (10 oz) 10 oz Cooked turkey, thinly sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
4 Large lettuce leaves
4 Medium tomatoes, sliced
4 Tbs Mayonnaise
method
Put half of the bread slices on a board and cover them with turkey slices and salt and pepper to taste. Cover with the lettuce leaves, then the tomato slices. Spread the mayonnaise generously over the four remaining toast slices and put them on top of the filling. Serve at once.
