Fresh dates are so different from the more widely known semi-dried variety, familiar to us at Christmas time.
They are not as sweet as the boxed ones and lend themselves to interesting combinations.
This spread can be used on bread (try granary) or as a cocktail appetizer on small crackers.
ingredients
50 g (2 oz) cream cheese
30 ml (2 tbsp) milk
225 g (8 oz) fresh dates, finely chopped
15 g (1 tbsp) finely grated lemon rind
method
1. Preparation Mix the cheese with the milk to a smooth cream.
2. Add the dates and lemon rind and mix together well.
