1. Put the meat in a bowl with the very finely chopped onion.
2. Chop the pepper into very small dice.
3. If you prefer, both onion and pepper can be chopped in a blender.
4. Add the breadcrumbs. Mix with a beaten egg and add the Worcestershire sauce and seasoning.
5. Divided the mixture into 8 pieces and shape into rounds.
6. A scone or pastry cutter is ideal for this purpose.
7. Place on a tray in the refrigerator to chill while making the sauce.
8. To make the sauce heat the oil in a saucepan and cook over a low heat for 4 minutes.
9. Add the garlic and grated carrot.
10. Stir well and then add remaining ingredients. Season well.
11. Simmer for at least 20 minutes on a low heat.
12. Brush the beefburgers over with oil and grill under a high heat for 4 minutes each side.
13. If you like beef well cooked give the burgers a further 3 minutes.
