The delicious wine cup Sangria is a perfect accompaniment to food with a Spanish flavour.
Allow 2 hours for the full flavour to develop.
ingredients
2 x 70 cl (l 1/4 pint) bottles sweet red Spanish wine
5 fresh peaches, thinly sliced, or 400 g (14 oz) can sliced peaches, drained
juice of 1 lemon
4 tablespoons brandy (optional)
1 eating apple
1 lemon
600 ml (1 pint) soda water
ice cubes
method
1. Put the peaches in a large jug or glass bowl. Add the wine, lemon juice and brandy and allow to soak for about 2 hours.
2. Just before serving, slice the apple and lemon thinly and add to the jug with the soda water and ice cubes.
