1. Cut frankfurters into 5 cm (2 inch) lengths.
2. Melt lard in a flameproof casserole or a heavy-based saucepan, and saute onion until transparent.
3. Remove seeds and white membrane from capsicum and chop.
4. Add to onion in pan, cook a few minutes longer, then add baked beans, frankfurters and season to taste with salt and pepper.
5. Mix well, cover and cook in a moderate oven 180-190°C (350-375°F) or simmer on top of stove for approximately 15 minutes or until hot.
6. Serve with grilled/broiled bacon.
