1. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat; add flour, stirring until smooth.
2. Pour hot chicken broth into the flour mixture and stir until smooth.
3. Add salt and pepper. Heat half-and-half in a separate saucepan or in microwave, then add to the thickened sauce.
4. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
5. Serve sauce hot over sliced turkey breast and rice or noodles.
6. Sprinkle with toasted chopped almonds if desired.
