method
1. Heat the oil in a pan and cook the onions over a low heat for about 20 minutes, or until golden, shaking the pan from time to time.
2. Add the sugar, chocolate, vinegar and salt and pepper to taste, cover and cook for 10 minutes more, adding a little water if necessary to keep the bottom of the pan moist.
3. Arrange the onions on a platter and serve.
