Barley Bread

ingredients

5 1/2 cups (550 g) 18 oz barley flour
1 3/4 cup (170 g) 6 1/2 oz plain flour (All purpose)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Bicarbonate of soda (Baking soda)
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 pint (600 ml) buttermilk

method

1. Mix together the dry ingredients, then mix in the buttermilk.

2. Roll out to 2.5 cm (1 inch) thickness.

3. Bake in a preheated hot oven 230°C (450°F) Gas Mark 8 for 15 to 20 minutes, without turning.
