1 tbsp oil
1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
500 g pack cubed braising steak
1 tbsp Madras curry powder
300 ml passata
1 x beef stock cube made up with 1 1/4 cup (300 ml) boiling water
2 tbsp tomato puree (paste)
1 tbsp sugar
method
1. Heat the oil in a saucepan over a moderate heat and fry the onion and beef for 2 - 3 minutes, or until the onion is softened and the beef browned.
2. Add the Madras curry powder and fry for a further 1 minute.
3. Add the remaining ingredients, bring to the boil and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until the beef is tender.
