Syrup sauce goes down a treat spread on pancakes, waffles and steamed puddings.
ingredients
makes 1/3 pint (300 ml)
4 level tablespoons golden syrup (substitute light corn syrup)
2 level teaspoons arrowroot
2 tablespoons lemon juice
method
1. Blend the arrowroot to a smooth paste with 1/4 pint of water in a small pan.
2. Add the syrup and lemon juice. Bring the sauce to the boil, over low heat, stirring all the time, and cook until thick.
3. Serve hot with light steamed puddings, and warm with ice cream, pancakes and waffles.
