1 level tsp (5 ml) ground coriander
1 level tsp (5 ml) ground turmeric
1 level tsp (5 ml) ground chili
1 pinch black pepper
1 pinch ground ginger
1 1/4 cup (1/2 pint) 300 ml coconut milk
1 onion, skinned and sliced
1 clove of garlic, skinned and crushed
2 tbsp (1 oz) 25 g butter
450 g (l lb) stewing steak, cubed
1 1/4 cup (1/2 pint) 300 ml stock
salt and lemon juice
1. Mix the powdered ingredients and make into a paste with a little of the coconut milk.
2. Fry the onion and garlic in the butter until tender and add the paste, then fry for a further 3-4 minutes.
3. Add the meat and stock, bring slowly to the boil and simmer for about 2 hours.
4. Add the remaining coconut milk, some salt and lemon juice and serve at once.
