method
1. Brush 2 tbsp softened butter on bottom and about 6 inch up sides of slowcooker.
2. Peel yams or sweet potatoes, cut into 1/2" crosswise slices. Place on bottom of slowcooker.
3. Top with apple wedges, then nutmeg, maple syrup, and 2 tbsp melted butter.
4. Cover and cook on low 3 1/2 to 4 hours or until tender.
5. Sprinkle with pecans, if desired.
