Spiced Fruit Punch

ingredients

serves 10
2 3/4 cups (21 fl oz) 600 ml orange juice
1 1/4 cup (1/2 pint) 300 ml pineapple juice
juice and rind of 1 lemon
1/2 tsp each ground nutmeg and ground Mixed Spice (All Spice / Pumpkin pie spice)
6 cloves
2 3/4 cups (21 fl oz) 600 ml water
1/2 - 3/4 cup (110 - 175 g) caster sugar (superfine granulated)
3 1/2 cups (27 fl oz) 750 ml ginger ale, chilled
crushed ice

method

1. Put the fruit juices, spices and lemon rind in a large jug.

2. Put the water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to the boil.

3. When the sugar has dissolved, leave to cool, and then add to the ingredients in the jug. Chill.

4. Just before serving, strain the liquid and add the ginger ale and crushed ice.
