1. Combine the cream, mayonnaise, onion, and vinegar in a bowl or the goblet of an electric blender.
2. Crumble the cheese, and add it to the mixture.
3. Split the garlic clove and rub a salad bowl thoroughly with the cut sides. Discard the garlic.
4. Whisk or blend the other ingredients until smooth.
5. Use over a green salad placed in the bowl.
