ingredients

makes 20
2 oz (50 g) margarine
1/4 cup (45 g) soft dark brown sugar
2 tbsp spoons golden syrup (substitute light corn syrup)
100 g rolled oats
fat for greasing

method

1. Melt the margarine, add the sugar and syrup, and warm gently. Do not boil.

2. Remove from the heat and stir in the oats.

3. Press into a greased 28 X 18cm tin.

4. Bake in a warm oven, 160°C, Gas 3, for 25 minutes or until firm.

5. Cut into fingers while still warm and leave in the tin to cool.
