method
1. Put the sugar and port or wine into a large, deep bowl. Put in the cloves or cinnamon stick and cook, uncovered, for 4 - 8 minutes on HIGH, stirring occasionally to help dissolve the sugar.
2. Add the plums to the syrup, cover the bowl with cling film and cook for 5 minutes on HIGH.
3. Reduce the power to MEDIUM and cook for a further 5 minutes. Uncover and allow plums to cool slightly
