Tareli Macchi (Fried fish — Parsi style) recipe

ingredients

6 large or 12 small Fish, fillets or cut into 1/2 inch-thick slices

For the marinade:

1 tsp (2 g) Turmeric (haldi) powder
1 tsp (2 g) Red chilli powder
1 tsp (1 1/2 g) Cumin (jeera) powder (optional)
1 Lemon (nimbu) juice
Salt to taste
1 cup (200 ml) 7 fl oz Sesame (til) oil

method

1. Mix all the ingredients for the marinade and rub into the fish. Marinate for about 30 minutes.

2. Heat the oil in a frying pan; fry the fish on low heat till crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain the excess oil on absorbent paper towels.

3. Serve immediately with lemon slices.
