method
1. Melt the butter with the oil in a large frying-pan. Add the cabbage and, using wooden spoons, turn the cabbage in the oil mixture until it is thoroughly coated. Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
2. Stir in the sugar, soy sauce, water, stock cube, wine or sherry and simmer, covered, for a further 5 minutes.
3. Transfer the mixture to a warmed serving dish and serve at once.
