2/3 cup (75 g) wholemeal flour (whole grain)
3 tbsp (25 g) plain flour
25 g (1 oz) fine or medium oatmeal
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp soft light brown sugar
1/2 stick (2 oz) 50 g butter or margarine
2 tbsp milk
flour for rolling out

method
1. Heat the oven to moderate, 180°C, Gas 4.
2. Mix all the dry ingredients, sifting the sugar if it is lumpy.
3. Rub in the fat and mix to a pliable dough with the milk.
4. Knead lightly on a floured board and roll out just under 5 mm thick.
5. Cut into rounds with a 6 cm round cutter, place on a greased baking sheet and prick with a fork.
