method
1. Put bran, sugar and dried fruit into a bowl and mix thoroughly.
2. Stir in milk. Add flour, mixing well, and pour into a well-greased 450g (1lb) loaf tin.
3. Bake at 180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4 for one and a quarter hours.
4. Turn out of tin and cool on a wire rack.
5. Serve sliced with butter.
