Fruited Bran Loaf

ingredients

makes one loaf
55 g (2 oz) bran
3/4 cup (135 g) brown sugar
8 oz (225 g) dried fruit
1 cup (8 fl oz) 250 ml milk
1 2/3 cup (175 g) self raising (self rising) flour

method

1. Put bran, sugar and dried fruit into a bowl and mix thoroughly.

2. Stir in milk. Add flour, mixing well, and pour into a well-greased 450g (1lb) loaf tin.

3. Bake at 180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4 for one and a quarter hours.

4. Turn out of tin and cool on a wire rack.

5. Serve sliced with butter.
